There are now 3 weeks until my next race, the Manchester Marathon/Half Marathon on November 7, 2010. My friend Nancy and I have been walking the last 6 Sundays in preparation, increasing the mileage each week. Today we'll do our longer session yet, 10.6 miles, which will take us about 4.5 hours.
I'm looking forward to this race. Much of the course meanders through River Road in Manchester, a road I know very well. Nancy is from Manchester so I expect the race will have special meaning for her. Funny, I've never done a marathon with so many of my fellow Granite Staters. I can't wait.
It was a picturesque fall day, temperatures in the mid 60's. We stopped several times to take foliage photos. I want to remember how beautiful the walk was...the snow and ice are never far behind.
But by far the most memorable part of today's hike was seeing a black bear in a Durham neighborhood. I wasn't able to get a picture of the bear, so I snapped a photo of where we saw him and Photoshopped him in. Ah the memories...
